Ok so I'm listening to the radio. Best morning show ever, The Kane Show on 99.5 FM! Topic for today "running away from home". How many of you ran away or wanted to as a child? I know there are probably so many stories and I would love to hear them. (Leave a comment so we can all have a good laugh this morning)!
But it wouldn't be right if I didn't share my story. You know be the first partaker lol!
So I was probably about 5 years old and I went to this summer camp in the city. As a little girl I had a lot of demands and my parents never gave in to any of them. On top of that I hated my little sister. I was just mad that they had another baby. Anyway, I had this best friend at camp that hated her parents too. I guess this is a common phase for 5 year olds, and I guess this phase last until young adulthood for the most part.
So at camp one day we came up with "The Plan". First part of the plan was to not eat our lunch that day. (It's already starting out horribly). For one I'm a huge eater. I eat everything in site. So when the big day came I literally starved from not eating lunch. We were saving our lunch for our trip to run away. What was our form of transportation you ask? Motor cars. You know the Barbie jeeps, well I had a BMW convertible. I just knew I was hot stuff. Running away in style hahaha! The plan was to plug the cars up over night so that they were fully charged. And when we got home from camp we would sneak out the house at night and meet at the camp and run away. Now we had no location at all. Like none. But we were so serious about this plan. We talked about it the whole day before. On the play ground we mapped out how to get back to the camp and what we needed from our lunch. We said that we would leave the house at some set time, I can't remember the time exactly it was almost 22 years ago.
So on the actual night we were pose to leave I got cold feet. The one thing we forgot to do was exchange numbers. I'm not sure if my mom ever knew this plan but that night I was freaking out. I couldn't run away. Like who runs away. I would miss my mom and dad and my godawful sister. But I didn't know how to tell my friend that I wouldn't be able to meet her. I just kept thinking that she would be up there waiting for me all night. I was just so concerned. Picture a 5 year old freaking out, THAT WAS ME!
So I get to camp the next day and my friend was there being dropped off with her parents. I asked her what happened and she says "I forgot to charge my jeep!"
